ROLINX Hybrid Power and Signal Busbars

ROLINX Hybrid is a Rogers busbar solution that combines power connections and signal lines in one structure. Rogers describes integrated connectors and surface-mount components as part of the concept. It is an electrical assembly rather than a wearable running watch.

The product is relevant to battery-cell interconnections and connections between battery modules and management electronics. The documented approach can reduce separate wiring and simplify assembly. It supports applications involving prismatic or cylindrical cells, subject to the requirements of the particular battery construction.

Combining signal and power functions does not remove the need to define their electrical separation and interface requirements. Review cell arrangement, current paths, sensing connections, connector pin assignments and the assembly envelope. Include tolerance accumulation and mechanical loading when determining how the interconnect attaches to the cells and surrounding structure.

Use the product information as an introduction to the architecture. The final drawing and validation plan must establish the actual conductor, insulation, connector and component specifications for the intended battery system.

Selection and validation

For a project review, provide conductor geometry, connection locations, insulation clearances, voltage, current waveform and cooling conditions. Validate the complete assembly under its intended electrical, thermal and mechanical loads. A product-family description does not establish the rating of an individual busbar design.
