R/bak U1A is a Rogers cushion mounting material for printing applications. It combines unsupported open-cell polyurethane cushioning with a single-sided acrylic adhesive. Rogers describes the construction as suitable for bonding to carrier films such as PVC or PET.

The adhesive arrangement distinguishes U1A from a cushion supplied without that adhesive. Confirm which side is bonded, the carrier material and the complete plate-mounting construction. A statement of compatibility with a carrier type is not a guarantee of adhesion to every surface finish or contaminated surface.
Review cushion thickness and the handling requirements for the intended assembly. Evaluate the converted shape, edge conditions and mounting procedure before a production run. If replacing another R/bak grade, verify the support and adhesive differences rather than assuming the grade names indicate an interchangeable product.
Selection and validation
Specify cushion thickness, carrier construction, adhesive arrangement, plate thickness and the press setup before ordering. Evaluate print quality through a controlled press trial using the intended ink and substrate. A change in cushion construction may require adjustments to mounting and impression settings.
