Rogers IsoClad 917 Nonwoven PTFE Laminate

Rogers IsoClad 917 is a nonwoven fiberglass-reinforced PTFE circuit laminate. The IsoClad family is intended for printed circuit substrates, including microwave transmission lines and conformal antennas. Its random-fiber reinforcement is an important part of the material identity.

Why the reinforcement matters

Rogers describes IsoClad laminates as less rigid than woven-fiberglass alternatives. This can be useful where a finished circuit is formed to a shape, such as a wrap-around antenna. It does not by itself establish a permitted bend radius or a repeated-flex lifetime; those requirements need to be evaluated for the specific construction.

IsoClad 917 uses a relatively low fiberglass-to-PTFE ratio. IsoClad 933 is a different grade with more reinforcement. Treat a change between these grades as a material change requiring electrical and mechanical review.

Specify the finished board

Confirm the exact dielectric option, thickness, copper cladding and current data-sheet revision. For a shaped circuit, also provide the final geometry, forming requirements and mechanical support details. Discuss PTFE processing and the inspection approach with the fabricator before fabrication.

For board-level selection, see the IsoClad 917 PCB guide. You can compare other substrates in the materials directory or submit a project through the PCB quote form.
