DeWAL DYNAGLIDE is a Rogers product line of filled PTFE films for applications such as bearings and seals. The material is skived into film, and different grades use different fillers to obtain the required mechanical and sliding characteristics.
The DeWAL brand should not be confused with DeWALT power tools. DYNAGLIDE is not a cordless-tool transmission, and the earlier description of a dual-ring gearbox did not describe this material.
Grade selection needs to consider the mating surface and operating conditions. For example, Rogers documents a graphite-filled DW612 DYNAGLIDE grade and a glass-filled DW601 DYNAGLIDE grade with different suggested mating-surface uses. These examples do not establish that all fillers are interchangeable.
Define film thickness, contact pressure, sliding motion, temperature and the surrounding environment. If the film is to be bonded, confirm the supplied surface treatment and adhesive compatibility. Evaluate wear and friction in the actual assembly rather than treating a nominal PTFE property as a prediction of service life.
Selection and validation
Select the exact grade and thickness against the application requirements, then review the current technical data and processing instructions. Material test results describe particular specimens and conditions; they do not establish the performance or approval status of every finished assembly.
