BISCO MS Medical and Life Science Silicones

BISCO MS is a Rogers silicone material series for medical and life-science applications. The portfolio includes silicone foam, bun and solid material options. These materials can serve functions such as sealing, cushioning and vibration or acoustic management within an assembly.

The series is not a range of analytical instruments. Claims about chromatography, mass spectrometry or particle-analysis equipment do not describe the identity of the BISCO MS materials.

Choose the exact grade according to mechanical, dimensional and environmental requirements. A solid silicone sheet and a cellular foam can behave differently under compression, so a family-level description is not an adequate substitute for a grade data sheet. Confirm the supplied form and any converting or assembly process.

Regulatory documentation must also be specific. Rogers explains that EU medical-device rules apply to devices rather than certifying these raw materials as complete medical devices. Any cited biological or other test result must match the grade and test conditions. Suitability for the finished device remains part of that device’s evaluation.

Selection and validation

Select the exact grade and thickness against the application requirements, then review the current technical data and processing instructions. Material test results describe particular specimens and conditions; they do not establish the performance or approval status of every finished assembly.
