ProCell EV Firewall is a Rogers materials family for managing heat propagation in batteries. The word “firewall” refers to a physical thermal barrier.
What the material does
Rogers describes ProCell EV Firewall materials as options that have delayed thermal propagation in certain battery designs. The product family includes compressible constructions, allowing thermal protection and mechanical requirements to be considered together. Performance depends on the selected material and the battery construction; a family name alone does not establish a finished pack’s safety performance. See the official ProCell EV Firewall overview for the current product listing.
A documented current grade: PCL-350
The current Rogers product information identifies PCL-350 as a medium-firmness, filled silicone elastomer. Its published thickness range is 1.5–3 mm. Rogers supplies the material in rolls and describes its use as both a thermal propagation barrier and a compression pad. The material can be converted into application-specific shapes without excessive dust or debris.
Rogers identifies cell-to-cell and module-to-module protection as relevant applications. Under intense heat, the material uses multiple mechanisms to reduce heat transmission. Consult the PCL-350 product page and linked barrier data sheet for grade-specific information.
How to interpret an 800 or 801 reference
If an existing drawing, purchase record or older document calls out “ProCell EV Firewall 800” or “801,” request the matching Rogers data sheet and revision before making a selection. The current product pages cited here do not establish specifications or availability for those designations. PCL-350 information should not be treated as an approved substitution or transferred to a different grade.
Prepare a useful material review
Rogers’ thermal propagation application overview explains how silicone barrier materials can combine pressure management, vibration control and thermal protection in battery assemblies, including pouch and prismatic cell formats. This makes the mechanical installation as relevant as the material name.
For a review with the material supplier, identify the exact grade and document revision, available thickness, installed gap, compression requirements, cell format and intended placement. Also identify the assembly-level test method and acceptance criteria. Keep proposed substitutions visible in the drawing and purchasing records. Confirm current availability and application suitability directly with Rogers or the responsible material supplier before releasing the design.
