Rogers CLTE-MW is a high frequency circuit laminate made from a ceramic-filled PTFE system with woven glass reinforcement. It is intended for microwave designs, including demanding thin-core applications. It is not an LTE gateway or cellular networking appliance.
The construction uses spread glass and a high filler content to help manage the influence of the glass weave on electrical behavior. This is relevant when evaluating small RF structures and higher-frequency circuits, but it does not eliminate the need to consider stackup and conductor tolerances.
Use the CLTE-MW data sheet for the selected core thickness and copper configuration. Dielectric properties should be read with their test methods, and a property associated with one thickness should not automatically be transferred to another construction. Published laminate loss is also different from the insertion loss of a fabricated transmission line.
CLTE materials require appropriate PTFE processing. Review drilling, hole activation, plating, bonding and dimensional compensation with the fabricator before approving a multilayer build.
Selection and validation
Before releasing a board, record the exact material designation, dielectric thickness, copper foil, finished stackup and inspection requirements. Have the fabricator review the construction and confirm material availability. Prototype measurements should establish whether the finished circuit meets its electrical and environmental requirements.
