Arlon AD350A PCB: Rogers PTFE Material Guide

AD350A is a Rogers ceramic-filled, woven-glass PTFE laminate. Review material identification, fabrication requirements and PCB specification inputs.

An AD350A PCB uses the ceramic-filled, woven-fiberglass-reinforced PTFE laminate documented by Rogers Corporation. The older Arlon name reflects the AD series’ development history. AD350A is a PTFE circuit material; a fabrication plan based on a thermoset hydrocarbon resin description would use the wrong material assumptions.

Specify the material before comparing cost

Confirm the exact product designation, dielectric thickness, copper option and governing data-sheet revision. Keep dielectric values tied to their test method and frequency, and distinguish process characterization from design data. Ask for clarification if the product page and a data-sheet revision present different values.

A proposed substitution for RO4350B or another grade requires review of electrical behavior and fabrication requirements. A similar nominal dielectric constant does not establish equal loss, equivalent thermal behavior or a predictable percentage cost saving.

Review the PTFE process

The Rogers AD fabrication guide calls for PTFE surface activation before hole metallization. Have the fabricator confirm hole preparation, bonding material, lamination method and inspection requirements for the actual stackup. Generic FR-4 drilling or cure instructions are not a substitute for this review.

Provide the operating band, thermal requirements, board outline, copper specification and acceptance criteria. Compare options in the materials directory or submit a complete drawing package through the PCB quote form.
